Leadership

Pastors & Staff

Rev. Hyemi Lee Jones

Senior Pastor

I joined Old Mission United Methodist Church in July 2025, and I’m honored to serve this vibrant, welcoming community. My journey into ordained ministry unfolded over several years and led me through two incredible seminary experiences at Drew Theological School and Yale Divinity School. I first embraced pastoral ministry through hospital chaplaincy, where I learned to walk alongside people in some of life’s most tender moments. Before coming to Old Mission, I served as Senior Pastor at Monticello UMC in Shawnee and Director of Congregational Care at Church of the Resurrection in Leawood.
For me, ministry is all about people—you! I love hearing your stories, discovering your gifts, and dreaming together about what God can do in our lives. Church, to me, means belonging to the household of Jesus, and I am deeply humbled to call Old Mission my home and my people.
I see myself as a servant leader, striving to follow Jesus and create a space where everyone feels welcome and known. My spouse, Jeremy, and I are blessed with two amazing kids, Connor and Yuna. We love Friday movie nights filled with fun and meaningful conversations, and I enjoy running and spending time in local parks.
Old Mission is a spiritual home for all—followers and wanderers, the lost and the found. It’s a place where we actively love our neighbors and invite everyone to experience the resurrection life, here and now. I look forward to getting to know you and growing in faith together.

Rev. Josh Seifert

Pastor of Faith Formation

I joined Old Mission just over a year ago through the United Methodist Church’s appointive system. Before that, I served at Resurrection UMC while attending Saint Paul School of Theology. After graduating in May 2024, I began my first appointment here as a Provisional Elder in July.
The church is more than a building—it’s a community where we worship God, support each other, and grow as disciples. My faith guides me as we start new ministries, host events, and welcome new faces. I’m passionate about the church being a shared effort to serve and love others.
I love meeting people new to Old Mission and hearing their stories—stories of redemption, struggle, and faith. It’s an honor to walk alongside them and help them explore their faith. One meaningful moment was returning from paternity leave on communion Sunday; despite feeling out of sync, the grace shared at the table reminded me of what truly matters.
Music and baseball have shaped my life—performing across the Midwest and Europe, and pitching for Nebraska Wesleyan University. My wife and I welcomed our son, Wesley, in May. We cherish exploring life with him every day.
This fall, I’m excited for community events like Back-to-School Sunday and Fall Festival, hoping to foster welcoming, meaningful connections. I aim to deepen ties across ministries and classes, helping people grow and serve together. If you’re considering Old Mission, know it’s a loving community where people care deeply, and children are especially cherished.

Rev. Nancy Pauls

Pastor of Congregational Care

I was appointed as Pastor of Congregational Care in 2020, but my connection to Old Mission goes back much further. Scott and I started attending in 1987, just after we got married. He was a lifelong Methodist, and Old Mission was close to our home in Argentine.
My faith and work have always shaped each other. I’ve felt called to serve people—especially those on the margins—which eventually led me to ordained ministry. It’s a gift to live a life of worship and service within a community that loves God and cares deeply for others. That’s what church means to me.
It’s a privilege to walk with people through sacred moments—whether at a hospital bedside, after a loss, or bringing communion to someone homebound. I also see God in worship, especially through the honesty and wonder of children during joys and concerns.
When I started at Old Mission, I had no grandchildren—by summer 2025, I had six! I enjoy working out, walking my dog, trying new coffee shops, and volunteering at the homeless shelter.
My hope for Old Mission is to keep growing in diversity and to share God’s love with more people. If you’re considering joining, jump into a group, ask questions, and know that we—as pastors—are here to walk with you.

Karen Eisele

Director of Worship Arts

I’ve been part of Old Mission since 1998 and joined the staff in 2000 after discovering the church’s vibrant music ministry and welcoming spirit. Music has always been deeply tied to my faith—it’s how I connect with God and help others do the same. I love seeing people come together through music to experience belonging and purpose.
For me, church is about people—relationship, love, and acceptance. While I continue to wrestle with what “church” means in today’s world, I know God is at work through community, creativity, and shared passion. Whether it’s leading worship, writing puppet scripts for kids, or helping create meaningful moments like our Juneteenth service, I’m grateful to be part of what God is doing at Old Mission.
Outside of church, I love spending time with my husband, kids, and grandkids—and yes, I get hiccups every time I eat pretzels! You can often find me at Upper Crust Pie Bakery, reading historical fiction, or enjoying live music. My hope is that Old Mission continues to be a place where everyone feels seen, known, and welcomed. Whatever brings you here, there’s space for you.

Emilyjane Eichman

Director of Student Ministries

My family has been part of Old Mission for over ten years. We found it when we were new to town, looking for a welcoming, community-focused church. From day one, we felt at home. Our children were baptized here in 2017, and worshiping together remains a joyful part of our lives.
My faith is the foundation of all I do. I try to live out 1 Corinthians 16:14: “Let all that you do be done in love.” Church, to me, is family—a place to grow, ask questions, and experience God’s grace through community. I’m constantly learning from others, whether seasoned believers, new followers, or curious kids.
One of the biggest joys in my role is working with the youth of Old Mission. These students are courageous, kind, fun, and incredibly insightful. I love walking alongside them in their faith journeys and watching them begin to realize just how deeply loved they are by God. That love inspires action, and I’m grateful to help them explore what that looks like in their lives.
Outside of church, I work as a Board-Certified Music Therapist in a pediatric private practice, and I’m passionate about inclusion and helping people of all abilities feel seen and valued. I also love spending time with my family, exploring new places, and enjoying a good conversation over coffee.
If you’re new to Old Mission, I hope you’ll come sit with me on a Sunday. My prayer is that you’ll feel God’s love reflected back to you in this community—from the moment you walk in. You are loved. You are loved. You are deeply, deeply loved.

Madison Stumbough

Director of Children's Ministries

I joined the Old Mission family in July of 2025. I'm a lifelong United Methodist and was raised in Bonner Springs, KS. I have spent almost eight years in ministry, both in Bonner Springs and Winfield, KS. I’ve had the joy of working with both kids and youth, and my passion for helping children discover God’s love just keeps growing!
I love church, and I believe faith should be fun, creative, and full of wonder, especially for our youngest disciples. Whether it’s a Sunday school lesson, a hands-on craft, or a giggle-filled game, I love creating spaces where kids can grow in faith and feel God’s love in real ways.
When I’m not at church, you’ll probably find me crocheting, playing board games with friends and family, or buried in a new DIY project. I’m so excited to be here and can’t wait to learn, laugh, and grow with you!
