LETTER FROM CHARLOTTE CHRISTIANSEN, NURSERY COORDINATOR
Dear Nursery Parents,
I have been the Nursery Coordinator for Old Mission nursery for nine years and am very pleased to begin my tenth year this month. We have a Sunday School class for infants and toddlers every Sunday from September through May. This September, we will start passing an offering plate (the money will be given to the Children's Ministry projects). Also, before snack time, we will be teaching the children a prayer.
We have four paid full time caregivers and two paid part time caregivers and one volunteer caregiver. Your child(ren) should see at least four familiar faces each Sunday. All of the nursery caregivers have had the Safe Gatherings Training that is required for everyone working with children in the Church. This is another step taken to provide the children a safe environment.
Nursery procedure on Sunday Mornings:
1. We will have a caregiver at the sign-in table. If you are new to the nursery, you will receive a packet of information and a name tag to place on your child(ren)'s back.
2. Another Nursery caregiver will take your child and belongings into the nursery. This is a safety precaution. When the nursery is crowded with children and parents, there is potential for a child to slip out the gate.
3. Sunday School Time Frame:
9:45-10:00 am Free Play
10:00-10:10 am Music
10:15-10:25 am Faith word of the month (Sunday School lesson)
10:25-10:45 am Snack time and free play
We will have a new Faith Word each month. We feel repetition benefits the children. Parents will receive a Scripture Reading that relates to the Faith word. Parents will receive a Sunday School Lesson plan each month.
The Nursery is the most important room at Old Mission as this is your child(ren)'s first experience in Church. Thank you for your support.
