VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL VOLUNTEER SIGNUP

We are gearing up for this year's Vacation Bible School (6:00 pm - 8:15 pm / June 17-20 with the Family Showcase on June 21). Volunteers and their ministry have always been a key component to a successful VBS. We are currently in the phase of inviting all those who are interested in helping with VBS to sign up.
Youth (7th through 12th grade) are encouraged to volunteer! Youth volunteers will participate in an all youth VBS meeting prior to VBS.
We need people to volunteer prior to and/or during VBS. There are numerous areas where your gifts can be used. Please prayerfully consider where God can use you this year.
Click here for VBS Volunteer Registration.
CARING CONNECTION MINISTERS
13 persons recently completed the 5 week training to become Caring Connection Ministers and were commissioned during worship.
These ministers will meet monthly with Leslie Van Blarcom, our Minister of Congregational Care. Current visitation needs will be discussed and home, senior facility or hospital visits will follow.
Caring Connection Ministers are the caring presence of Old Mission for those who are unable to attend worship and activities due to a temporary or long-term situation in their lives. Their purpose will be to listen, to pray and to keep in contact with our members. Caring Connection Ministers will not replace or eliminate the need for Sunday School class members and small groups who support such persons with meals, transportation or the running of errands.
Our current group includes Connie Acheson, Nancy Ash, Gayle Bricker, Todd Chapman, Katherine Frohoff, Sarah Hill, Marta Howard, Becky Johnston, Cecil Miller, MJ Walden, Rochelle Walter, Debbie Williams and Jerry Williams. Feel free to ask them about their ministry or to suggest members you believe would benefit from their visits.
Our Senior Minister, Dr. Michael Gardner, says: “These persons join our ministerial staff in communicating the love of Christ to people in their most vulnerable moments. I know of no higher calling”.
An older member of the congregation who lives in Overland Park (66212) and uses a walker needs a weekly ride to the church for 8:30 worship and Sunday School. Call Leslie Van Blarcom at the church if you are able to help.

TRANSPORTATION ASSISTANCE
There are times when members need transportation help to get to doctor's appointments, church, the grocery store, etc. If you have a flexible schedule and can be "on call" to serve in this way, please call the church office at 913-262-1040.
CHILDREN'S CHURCH
The children meet in the chapel for a time of worship and then go to room 155/159 for crafts related to the story. Volunteers rotate; you are not being asked to do this every Sunday. Materials are provided and you would usually be paired with an experienced Children's Church leader.
If you want to learn more about this opportunity, please contact Michele Bowen, Assistant Director of Children's Ministry, michele@oldmission.org.
