Members, visitors and friends who have filed in and out of the doors at Old Mission for years have come to know Gay Ecton’s smile and “can-do” attitude as a reflection of the church itself. As a member for more than four decades, and Old Mission’s Office Administrator for more than seven years, Gay was recently welcomed back to Old Mission after a 6½ year hiatus that took her and husband Reid to Stockton, Calif.
Gay has slipped right back into overseeing the day-to-day management of operations at the church, a job that she thoroughly enjoys. “I like the idea that I support clergy, staff and members in their ministry,” she says. The Tulsa, Okla.., native handles things like the day-to-day maintenance of the church, scheduling of events, coordinating weddings, and making sure bills are sent through the proper channels.
“Old Mission is a caring community, offering opportunities to serve others,” she says. “I’ve learned that God shows His love in many ways, especially through caring people.”
